Oh lordy, I miss you guys! I’ve been in Charlotte, NC for 6 weeks and have been to 2 local yarn shops. NOT EVEN CLOSE to what was available, interesting, helpful, exquisitve at W&C. I think I’m gonna cry!

My search will continue further away from my home - like 20 miles - in search of the holy wool grail. Not the same as the 5 minute drive to W&C.

Maybe it’s because I got to hang with you guys but you don’t see the joy and smiles and funny people (Leslie) that made W&C a sanctuary of creativity and spirit.

Yes, Neil, I can still order on the internet. But I miss YOU. I mean, I miss Y’ALL.

Thanks for the rally nice comments….come and visit us soon. There must be a good store somewhere close, does anyone have any suggestions? The only store I have been to down there is one in Davidson, where my friend Melissa lives. It seemed good but I was only there for a few minutes. Happy 4th to you!

Leslie, I live in Davidson! Next time you visit, let me know and I’ll meet you for lunch or the yarn store.

The Davidson store is lovely, just not as lovely as W&C. :)

Hi from the west coast. I am out of town getting ready for my 40th H.S. reunion, but have spend most of my time here in Oregon working on my….ta da: February Lady Sweater! I am just about finished with the body. Here is what I have done:

I used the fabulous The Fibre Company Terra, color is Dark Indigo, content is merino, baby alpaca and silk. Have Lesley show it to you; it reminds me of that fabric that looks a different color depending on which direction you hold it. Very beautiful. It has a few thicker slubs in it which add texture.

I did what Lesley did, slipped the first stitch of every row for a nice front edge finish. If I were using a more tightly spun yarn, I would have done YO increases instead of M1 increases along the raglan shaping lines to add more holes, but not with this yarn.

I started the garter stitch band on the bottom of the body and then changed my mind. I don’t need more horizontal banding on my bottom. So I experimented with a knit BO and a purl BO at the end of a lace pattern repeat. The purl one rolled a bit, the knit BO was just right.

I have 16″ circs to start the sleeves instead od DPs, so I will let you now how that goes.

Hint for folks having trouble with the lace pattern: place markers between each group of 7 stitches. That will help you isolate any problem you have with misplaced YOS or missing YOs or too many YOs. I had all of these at one time or other!

I will try to get a picture to you before I come back to Illinois. See you all soon and I can’t wait for more February Lady Sweater pictures from everyone. This one on the blog is terrific!

    Take care, all.

OK, so I DO need a horizontal band on my bottom. I decided I like it better with one, the sweater, not my bottom.

One sleeve is finished and the other nearly there, so if the weather would just cool off I could wear this thing. I likey!

    Hi Everyone,

I know most of you are done or near completing your February Lady Sweaters. They all look great from the ones I have seen. I am just beginning and have a question that I am hoping someone can help me on.

First I am working from the June 10 2.0 version pattern. I am knitting size medium which you cast on 87 stitches. To the yoke K15, mark, K11, mark, K30, mark, K11, mark K16. I end up with 4 additional stitches. When you total the numbers they only equal 83 stitches and for the medium it s/b 87 stitches. If I use the size large knit numbers it will total to 87 stithces. Do I continue using the large size numbers in ( ) throughout the pattern? Or I am reading the pattern wrong? Help me so I can get a going on this.

    Thank you. Mary

I also made the medium size and I did not have a miscount. Maybe you’re marking between stitches, instead of marking the stitch (which would put you off by 4 stitches, so I think that’s what happened).
You would mark a stitch, not put a marker in between and continue.
Hope that helps and does not make it worse.
