From Made in Brooklyn by Jared Flood

Bridgewater Knitalong with Company Bridgewater Knitalong with Company

Sunday Afternoon from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, starting on October 4th, and continuing on the 18th and November 1st. There will be no charge and you are welcome to join the Knitalong. We expect that the KAL will be over-subscribed and we have some requirements:

This project is for the knitter with an intermediate skill level. You will use a variety of stitches, basic lace techniques, and charts. The more industrious among you could get this finished by Christmas, however, don’t worry – we’ll schedule sessions for the New Year for those amongst us who’ll need more time.

Bridgewater Knitalong with CompanyDesigned by Jared Flood and featured in his Classic Elite Collection “Made in Brooklyn“, this what Jared says about his creation:

“The piece is a perfect square, with the center garter stitch portion (okay, so I guess I got a little more garter in than I may have originally let on) worked first, back and forth with lots of satisfying, mindless knitting. Just when you’re ready to ditch the simple stuff you’ll work the second section of horseshoe lace, picked up from the square’s perimeter and worked in the round, working increases at each of four corners. The delicate edging is worked last and knitted-on in place of a bind off”.

Never Mind the Quantity – Feel the Community

August 07, 2009 By: Neil Category: events, news

Never Mind the Quantity Feel the CommunityWe’re here in Portland, Oregon exhibiting at the Sock Summit 2009.  We left Chicago on Monday morning and spent two and a half days hauling our trailer full of a selection of the the yarns and goodies that we have available in our Geneva store every day.   The journey is a story in itself, and maybe for another time.

We got the both set up ready for the show opening at 430pm yesterday evening (Thursday), and ready to see hundreds (maybe thousands) the frantic and excited knitters hit the floor to buy.

There’s a distinct “vibe” here.   It has been a while since I’ve seen so much passion on display.  There’s a real sense of community too.  This show is different … although it is huge -it is not about volume … it’s community and quality.

More later …
