You might try a sweater called the wallaby (sp?) It is super simple and in the end you will have a great hooded sweater! You should be able to find the pattern at any yarn shop.

What is the best "non-scarf-or-potholder-or-thing-related-in-any-way" pattern you would reccomend (sp?) to a "very beginner knitter"? I am about to finish my first scarf (yay!!) and don't have a clue what to do next. (I mean, all I know how to do is your Joe-average garter stitch. I need a REALLY easy pattern.)

Pat, bring it in for advice. We don't do repairs or fixing as a rule, but
we're always happy to share our experiences.

I need help with a knitted man's vest. After I completed it (and after I sized down two needle sizes) it's together but too big. If I bring it in can someone fix this for me? I have basted in the side seams.... Please let me know, seems I can't knit anything for anyone, because everything turns out waaaay too big. I'm stuck with afgans and scarfs!!!

Sure we crochet too ... and crocheters are most welcome to our open
sessions (and do indeed come). We have a significant crochet section at the
store with materials, books, accessories and patterns and we offer frequent
crochet classes. We would love to see an increased demand for
crochet-themed activity.

No open crochet? I don't knit and it seems that all the yarn shops around here really cater to knitters and crocheters are the forgotten step-child.
