The Nine Days of Christmas <br />On the First DayOn the First Day of Christmas

Sunday only (December 11th) ensure that you have plenty to read (and therefore knit) once you have had that glass of eggnog … all books are 20% off. Yes folks! There is no need to bother that nice Mr. Amazon while he is so busy, come on in to Wool and Company and get the books you have been itching to have.

The Nine Days of Christmas

The stockings weren’t finished so couldn’t be hung,
The presents weren’t bought so didn’t get brung.
The food wasn’t cooked so couldn’t be eaten,
But somehow this Christmas just couldn’t be beat-en.
I knitted and knitted, then knitted some more,
Then after that came a knock at the door.
And there on the step wrapped up with a bow,
Was a gift just for me that made my heart glow.
The thing that I wanted more than diamonds or gold,
Some yarn and some needles to have and to hold.

About the Wool and Company Nine Days of Christmas

A super special deal, starting on Sunday December 11th, and then a new deal each day for the next 9 days.

We’ll help you finish your shopping, start your shopping, get what you want, give what you really wanted, and just have a jolly old time.

Why nine days? I hear you ask, surely you mean twelve? It’s because when I try singing the pesky Twelve Days of Christmas Song, I can only ever think of nine of the verses, and thus we have the Nine Days of Christmas, simple eh?

And of course, once we’re through we’ll have “nine ladies dancing” … at least!

Watch your email each day for the next 9 days to see what’s on special. Order online and pick up in-store if you wish (payment must be received the day of the offer to receive the discount).

Dear Fiber Fan, it is time for us all to be thankful …

Our reasons to be thankful …

  • Dear Fiber Fan, it is time for us all to be thankful ...that sheep never go on strike
  • that our UPS man is fit and healthy and knows our address
  • that when our yarn tangles, we have lots of patience or some sharp scissors close by
  • that our eyesight improves with a glass of red wine
  • that people like Meg Swanson and Amy Detjen keep writing books
  • that our staff have strong knees, good memories, excellent eyesight and nimble fingers
  • that we always have the choice between brussel sprouts and merino wool
  • that companies like Lantern Moon, Rowan, Malabrigo and Brown Sheep ship to Illinois
  • that you can knit and watch Love Actually at the same time
  • that wool doesn’t come from turkeys
  • that Ravelry was born
  • that our shopping bags are opaque
  • that needles come in lots of different sizes – it would be so hard if they didn’t
  • that teaching someone to knit is one of the best feelings in the whole wide world
  • that even your worst day gets better when you knit
  • that the size of our stash in no way correlates to the size of our hips
  • that we love every color of every yarn that we have in the store (and Lord knows we have a lot)
  • that so many wonderful knitters have gone before us to show us the way
  • that there is no limit on the amount of blue yarn one is allowed to purchase on any given day

and most importantly we are thankful that we have you, the best customers – you who have loyally supported us through the year.

We will be closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving Day, but will reopen at 10 am on Friday. We’re getting all dressed up for Christmas and have lots of fun new things in the store. Come and knit with us on Friday, in the morning, and then remember that the Holiday Lights will be switched on at 5pm and Santa will be ready for you to visit him in his little house on the 1st Street Plaza.

Holiday Wishlist 2009

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Holiday Wishlist 2009

Even if the forecast is for lots of snow today, wasn’t it pretty yesterday morning with that light dusting of white on the ground? I can say that because I don’t have to battle the traffic to get to work at the crack of dawn, and can stay in my jammies and knit for a bit. Ahhhhh, sanity time.

And that is a good thing because I am having a serious case of finishitis, and just want to start new things. I blame the new books, they are too full of great projects designed by some evil knitting force just to make us all want to cast on, instead of finishing what we already started. But I do love them and I think you will too.

Holiday Wishlist 2009

Thank you so much for all the scarves you have been sending in and dropping off for Kristina to share with the girls who will be in a treatment center for eating disorders over the holidays. She has already picked up a huge box filled to the brim and will be picking up the rest on the 19th so you still have a little bit of time if you want to bring one in. Once again, you have shown the incredible generosity of the knitting community and I just love that. Read more about courageous Kristina, and how she was inspired.

Finally, we’ve just sent out our newsletter with the Knitters 2009 Holiday Wishlist. Read your copy to get some great giving ideas.
