The Nine Days of Christmas <br />On the First DayOn the First Day of Christmas

Sunday only (December 11th) ensure that you have plenty to read (and therefore knit) once you have had that glass of eggnog … all books are 20% off. Yes folks! There is no need to bother that nice Mr. Amazon while he is so busy, come on in to Wool and Company and get the books you have been itching to have.

The Nine Days of Christmas

The stockings weren’t finished so couldn’t be hung,
The presents weren’t bought so didn’t get brung.
The food wasn’t cooked so couldn’t be eaten,
But somehow this Christmas just couldn’t be beat-en.
I knitted and knitted, then knitted some more,
Then after that came a knock at the door.
And there on the step wrapped up with a bow,
Was a gift just for me that made my heart glow.
The thing that I wanted more than diamonds or gold,
Some yarn and some needles to have and to hold.

About the Wool and Company Nine Days of Christmas

A super special deal, starting on Sunday December 11th, and then a new deal each day for the next 9 days.

We’ll help you finish your shopping, start your shopping, get what you want, give what you really wanted, and just have a jolly old time.

Why nine days? I hear you ask, surely you mean twelve? It’s because when I try singing the pesky Twelve Days of Christmas Song, I can only ever think of nine of the verses, and thus we have the Nine Days of Christmas, simple eh?

And of course, once we’re through we’ll have “nine ladies dancing” … at least!

Watch your email each day for the next 9 days to see what’s on special. Order online and pick up in-store if you wish (payment must be received the day of the offer to receive the discount).

We’re ready for fall as new knitting yarn arrives

Were ready for fall as new knitting yarn arrives

Hi knitters, so much to tell you this week.   The fall arrivals of knitting yarn continue … one of the biggest is a huge shipment of Plymouth’s Galway.  We are going to use this as one of our staples for all those projects that need a reasonably priced yarn (compare to Cascade 220).  It is also feltable.  We used to carry it ages ago, and the color palette was pretty limited back then, but my how it’s grown.

Anyway, we have lots, loads and heaps, so if you need a sweaters worth, a throws worth, or a felted clog and a halfs worth, we have it.

We also have lots more colors of Plymouth’s wonderful Superwash Merino Worsted … this is proving to be one of my favorite yarns, especially now that it is available in Superwash Merino DK as well. We just love it.

We also love Mini Mochi from Crystal Palace … Chunky, and Plus.  It makes for a great shawl, socks or again, because it is a superwash, it’s great for baby things.

Come on in and see all the new knitting yarn.

If you want to just enjoy the ride and watch the world go by this is the event for you, but if you want to join in the fun, we will be playing a round or two of Last Knitter Standing .. so be prepared for antics!

Return from Sock Summit 2011

So we are back from Sock Summit, and a very good time was had by all. We urge everyone to save their pennies in a jar from now until 2013 … rumor has it that there will be a Sock Summit 3, and you really should be there!

Not only is the class schedule wonderful, the market is fabulous and the organized events like the Fleece to Foot competition and the Flash Mob are a hoot.  Spinners and knitters danced with socks and competed to complete a pair of socks from a fleece in the fastest time.  The videos are worth watching – you can be the judge.

A Versatile Knitted Bag for our Every Other Project

Every Other Project for July is a Versatile Knitted Bag

A Versatile Knitted Bag for our Every Other ProjectOur Every Other Project for this month is a wonderful knitted bag that you can use for the food market or the pool (guess which one we prefer). Better yet it is designed by our very own Kate.   She originally made a bag for her mother for Mother’s Day, and I loved it so much that I thought you would too.

We have kitted the knitted bag up in three different yarns, so it comes out in three slightly different sizes and plenty of great colors, and ranges from $13.50 to $26.75. And it is really pretty. And quick to knit. And fun. So get yours now.

We saw some wonderful Karen Shawls made up from our last kits in both Madelinetosh and Fiesta’s Baby Boom.

A Versatile Knitted Bag for our Every Other ProjectThe winner of the drawing for the May Every Other Month Project is Teresa McCusker, and you can see her handiwork in Madelinetosh at the left. Teresa come in and get your Bag Kit.

Remember to send us the story and picture of the Every Other Bag and we’ll enter you in the drawing for a free kit of the next Every Other Month project.
