Product Description
Perhaps my favorite thing to come in is the Jared Flood Made in Brooklyn book from Classic Elite. I would make everything in it, and that is rare. My three favorites are the Bridgewater shawl, the Seneca sweater, (I think I smell a knitalong) and the Huron sweater. But I also really like everything else and can seriously see myself knitting everything and actually wearing most of it, which is a distinct rarity. He has a fabulous way of designing up to the minute garments that wouldn't look ridiculous on someone in their mid 30's ... OK, 40's .... alright, so I lied already, 50's.
In Jared's words ...
Living in Brooklyn presents a daily arrangement of unexpected inspirations — like existing in the midst of an impassioned conversation. In assembling this body of work, I've come to rely on an impossible juxtaposition of parts in my environment — old and new, luxury and necessity, tradition and trend — as a kind of sustenance in my process.
Throughout the weeks and months spent conceiving of, knitting, writing and photographing these designs, I became increasingly indebted to Place as the primary informant of this work — the Places that inspired it, the Places that housed its growth, and perhaps most importantly, the Places through which the work will pass after leaving my hands.
I hope you enjoy this collection — inspired by the streets and avenues on which I walk every day. May these works delight your own love of process as much as they have mine.
