Feature Pattern of the Week - Hipster Cowl

Hipster Cowl by Joji Locatelli
mYak Baby Yak Medium, color Desert

What happens when an incredibly talented knitwear designer creates a pattern using an ethically sourced, 100% Tibetan baby yak yarn? The Hipster Cowl!

Whether you are meeting friends for coffee or enjoying a weekend getaway, the versatile Hipster Cowl is definitely an “outfit maker.” Knit primarily with combinations of knits, purls, slipped stitches & yarnovers, the cowl is both engaging and enjoyable to knit.

The cowl is the perfect piece to experience our newest yarn, mYak Baby Yak Medium. Spun from 100% baby yak, the yarn is purchased directly from nomadic, Tibetan herders. The incredibly soft & warm yak fiber is then spun in traditional mills at the foothills of the Italian Alps where no decoloring or chemical processes are used on the yarn. mYak respects the environment, fiber & source.

The Hipster Cowl requires 5 skeins of mYak Baby Yak Medium or 625 yards worsted weight yarn, as well as size US 8, 24” circular needle (piece is knit flat), H (5mm) crochet hook for cast-on, & waste yarn.

Some other yarns that would work well include Brooklyn Tweed Shelter, The Fibre Co. Cumbria or Brooklyn Tweed Ranch.

The pattern is available to purchase in store or on Ravelry.

Shop the collection online or visit our store to find your perfect color. We look forward to seeing you.

Happy Knitting!
