It is almost Fall & a great time to break out the plaid. We love when this beloved print is translated into hand knits- so fun! The Mega-Plaid Mitts by Cheryl Murray are a great addition to any outfit. The combinations are endless. The Fall color inspired pair is gorgeous, but they would also look amazing in a neutral palette of black, cream & grey, various shades of blue or classic red & black.
To knit the mitts you will need just three skeins of Cascade 220 Superwash Sport or 220 Sport & size US 4 & 6 double point needles. The project is such a great value & would make a fabulous gift.
Love scarves? The Kex Scarf by Stephen West is a classic knit in light, yet warm woolen spun Brooklyn Tweed Shelter. This scarf looks good an absolutely everyone & features simple horizontal stripes and vertical slipped stitches. Horizontal bands are worked perpendicular to the fabric, which creates a plaid effect.
The scarf requires the following skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter:
- 4 skeins color A (MC), sample in Nest which is discontinued, but Truffle Hunt would be a nice substitution
- 2 skeins Color B (CC), sample in Button Jar
- 1 skein color C (CC), sample in Sap
- 1 skeins color D (CC), sample in Woodsmoke
Size US 9, 40” circular needle (A circular needle is only necessary for picking up border stitches along the long edge of the scarf at the end of the project. A straight needle can be substituted for the rest of the project).
