Feature Pattern of the Week - Spring Waves

Spring Waves Shawl by Vanessa Coscarelli Black
Amano Chaski, colors Brook, Love in a Mist, Cherry Blossom, Shell, Perfect Peach, Buttercup

There is nothing better than wrapping a hand knit shawl around your shoulders on a cool evening or adding that special something to an outfit. The Spring Waves Shawl by Vanessa Coscarelli Black is a generous sized wrap (20” x 81”) that can be worn all year. Knit in soft Amano Chaski, the shawl has beautiful drape & stitch definition.

The lightweight blend of Merino wool, Pima cotton & linen is easy to care for, as the yarn is machine washable. The project works up quickly, as the yarn is held double to create a fabric featuring solid and marled sections. The light, sorbet inspired colorways are ideal for the coast & cool summer evenings.

Knit in an attractive chevron pattern, the shawl is very straightforward with a repeating central double decrease, make 1 right & left, knits, purls & slipped stitches. The pattern is well written & explains how to do each each stitch. There is also a color diagram of the shawl.

To knit the Spring Waves Shawl you will need the following materials:

  • 1 skein each of 6 colors of Amano Chaski (fingering weight, 383 yards each), sample in Brook, Love in a Mist, Cherry Blossom, Shell, Perfect Peach, Buttercup)
  • Size US 8, 24” circular needle (knit flat, 20” wide)

The pattern is available to purchase on Ravelry.
