Take some time for yourself at one (or all!) of our complimentary events Learn something new, brush up on a skill or just come for the community. Everyone is welcome!

Dynamic Decreases Interactive Workshop

Monday, May 6, 6:30pm-7:30pm

Become a decreasing dynamo in this interactive demonstration where you will learn about three common decreases used in knitting. The interactive demo will begin with an overview of each decrease, when & why each decrease is used & a demonstration of how to do each one. You will then have a chance to practice each decrease & ask questions. We will cover K2Tog (knit 2 together), SSK (slip slip knit), SKP (slip 1, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over).

Homework & Supplies:

  • 4”-6” DK or worsted weight, live swatch (stitches on needles) in a light colored yarn to practice decreases

Judy’s Magic Cast-on Interactive Workshop

Sunday, May 12, 2:00pm-3:00pm

Ideal for toe-up socks, Judy’s Magic Cast-on creates an invisible, seamless toe that looks great & is comfortable to wear!

Learn when & why the cast-on is used, observe a step-by-step demonstration & then enjoy a hands-on learning session where you will get to practice your new “magical” cast-on!

Homework & Supplies:

  • Light colored, plied, fingering weight yarn
  • Size US 1, 1.5 or 2 double point needles or 40” circular (if you prefer the Magic Loop technique)

Stitch Spotlight: Linen Stitch Interactive Workshop

Wednesday, May 22, 6:30pm-7:30pm

One of our favorite stitch patterns is the Linen Stitch. Created with knits, purls & slipped stitches, the fabric created has a pleasing texture & a sort of “woven” look. It gives knit pieces a bit of structure, as well as density.

In this fun, relaxing workshop you will learn what linen stitch is, when it is commonly used & what stitches create the pattern. There will be a demonstration & then you will spend the rest of the evening creating a swatch.

Homework & Supplies:

  • Favorite light colored, solid or tonal yarn (fingering, sport, DK or worsted)
  • Appropriate needle size for the yarn

We look forward to seeing you at these relaxed, informative events! No sign-up is required, just drop by the store.

Happy Knitting!
