It is almost hat season & although we love summer, knit hats are so cozy! The Iris Hat by Sari Nordlund is an attractive watch style cap featuring a thick, comfy (triple folded!) brim.
The hat is knit holding a fingering weight strand of Merino wool together with a lace weight silk/mohair blend. This decadent combination delivers an ethereal halo & soft, smooshy goodness.
Surprisingly quick to knit, the pattern provides additional instructions to knit the hat with 2 strands of fingering weight or a single strand of DK weight if preferred.
This is a great piece for stash busting those lovely hand-dyes or creating a fun combination from the Wool and Co. selection. Hedgehog Fibres, Madelinetosh & La Bien Aimee have incredible collections of colorways.
Materials for Mohair Version:
- 1 skein Hedgehog Fibres Skinny Singles or 350 yards fingering weight yarn, photo sample in Iris
- 1 skein Hedgehog Fibres Kidsilk Lace or 350 yards lace weight silk/mohair blend, photo sample in Iris
- Size US 3, 16” circular needle + double point needles (or preferred method of small circumference knitting)
