Larger on the bottom and smaller at the top, different needle sizes are used to create the cowl shaping. Pattern stitch is written and charted.

24” Length Circular needle, US 6 (4 mm), (for lower ribbing and lower half of the cowl)

24” Length Circular needle, US 5 (3.75 mm), (for upper half of the cowl)

24” Length Circular needle, US 4 (3.5 mm), (for upper ribbing)

Gauge:

22 sts = 4” (10.2 cm); 29 rnds = 4” (10.2 cm) in St st
