Twisted stitches make 1x1 rib pop in Maxima! The swirling patterns that decorate both hat and mitts are made with strategically placed increases and decreases.

Finished Size

Hat: 16½ (18½, 20½)” head circumference and 8¼” tall for all sizes. Hat shown measures 18½”.

Mitts: 6½ (8)” hand circumference (unstretched) and 6½” long for both sizes Note: Will stretch to accommodate hand sizes about 1” to 1½” larger. Mitts shown measure 6½” in circumference.

Yarn

Manos del Uruguay MAXIMA (100% extrafine merino wool; approx. 219 yds/100 g)

Hat: 1 sk for all sizes

Mitts: 1 sk for all sizes

Hat: 23½ sts and 26½ rnds = 4”/10cm in pattern from Twisted Lace chart using larger needles.

Mitts: 22 sts and 24½ rnds = 4”/10cm in k1tbl, p1 twisted rib and patterns from Charts A and B.
