Craft: Knitting

This oversized sweater features a large checkerboard pattern created by alternating knit and purl stitches, along with dropped shoulders that are set towards the back; it is worked in one piece from the top down, starting at the accentuated shoulder line across the upper back. To enhance the texture of the pattern, the knit-stitch squares are worked with an additional strand of Premia yarn. First, the back is worked in rows down to the bottom hem; then, the two sides of the front are worked downwards from the shoulder line. After the neckline is shaped, these sides are joined to form a single front section, which is also worked in rows down to the bottom hem before being joined to the back to form a continuous round. The sleeves are worked directly onto the sweater—also in rows—and are joined into the round only at the cuffs. The neckband is added afterwards.
