Craft: Knitting

This boxy sweater with a stand-up collar and dropped shoulders is worked top-down, holding two strands of yarn together throughout; the pattern consists of garter-stitch ribs and a narrow band of eyelet lace. Work begins with the stand-up collar, from which the stitches for the front, back, and shoulder yoke are subsequently picked up. Increases on both sides of the shoulder yoke shape the final width of the front and back sections; from this point down to the base of the armholes, the front and back are worked separately in rows. The two sections are then rejoined to work in the round, and the body is completed in the round down to the hem. The sleeves are knitted directly onto the sweater and worked top-down, also in the round.
